Voice Chat with Strangers in India
On FlashChat you can talk to a stranger by voice without showing your face: start in a text chat, then either of you can ask for a voice-only call, and it starts only when the other person accepts. Text chat never shows your IP address; a call can, because it tries a direct connection first.
How a voice call starts
- Open flashchat.fun and tap Start. No signup and no app; it runs in the browser on Android, iPhone and desktop. You get a random username on your first visit.
- Talk in text first. Every one-to-one chat begins as text. A few lines tell you whether you want to hear this person at all.
- Ask for a call. Open the + menu and tap Voice call for audio only, or use the video call button if you both want cameras. The other person sees the request and can accept or decline.
- Hang up or skip any time. Ending the call takes you back to the text chat. Skip moves you to a new stranger. If you got on well, add them as a FlashBuddy and invite them back later.
Why voice instead of video
A voice call keeps what makes a conversation feel real, tone, laughter, an accent, without putting your face, your room or your family in frame. For many people that is the comfortable middle between typing and a camera.
- Your face stays private. A voice-only call never turns the camera on, and the browser does not ask for camera permission for it.
- Your IP address is not hidden. A voice call connects like a video call, directly first, so the other person can learn your IP address. Text chat never shows it.
- Lighter on data. Audio uses far less data than video. For comparison, a FlashChat video call is capped at 480p, about 4 to 6 MB a minute.
- Easier on a weak signal. Audio holds up better than video on a crowded network or a moving train.

Voice notes: talk without a live call
If a live call feels like too much, send a voice note in the chat instead. It plays once and then self-destructs, so it cannot be replayed from the chat later. Voice notes suit a quick laugh, a song line, or saying a word in your own language that does not type well.
Tips for a good first call
- Agree on it in text. "Want to switch to voice?" before you tap the button gets more yeses than a surprise ring.
- Use earphones. They cut echo and keep the other side of the call out of your room.
- Have a topic ready. Music you have on repeat, the last film you saw, which city has the best street food. Silence on a call feels longer than in text.
- Language is open. Hindi, English, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali: ask early what the other person is comfortable in.
More conversation advice is in talking to strangers in India, and if you prefer a group, the chat rooms are open to everyone.
Safety on calls
- Nothing starts without consent. A call needs the other person to accept. Decline costs you nothing.
- Report and block are in every chat, during a call or after it.
- Photos are checked on the server, including against known child-abuse images, and again in the receiving browser. Illegal text is refused in every chat.
- You decide what to say. Your voice can be recorded by the other person outside the site, as on any call. Do not share your number, address, college or workplace, and leave anyone who pushes you to move to another app.
FlashChat is for adults 18 and over, by self-declaration; there is no ID check. The full list of protections is on the safety page.
FAQ
Can I make a voice-only call without video?
Yes. In any one-to-one chat, either person can start a voice-only call. The camera stays off and the browser does not ask for camera permission.
Does a call start without my permission?
No. A call request has to be accepted by the other person before anything connects. You can decline any request.
Can the other person see my IP address?
It can. Calls try a direct peer-to-peer connection first, and to set one up the two browsers swap network details that include your IP address. Text chat never shows it.
What is a self-destructing voice note?
A voice message you record in the chat. The other person can play it once; after that it is gone and cannot be replayed from the chat.
How much data does a call use?
A voice-only call uses far less than video. Video calls on FlashChat are capped at 480p, which uses about 4 to 6 MB a minute.
Is voice chat on FlashChat free?
Yes. There is no signup, and chats cost nothing. Your first calls each day (five with a verified email, one without) are free for their first 10 minutes, then a coin or two a minute; after those, a call costs a few FlashCoins to connect and then by the minute. You earn FlashCoins free and cannot buy them. Open flashchat.fun in your browser and start.
