Hindi Chat Room: Chat in Hindi and Hinglish, Free

The FlashChat Hindi room is a free public chat room where you can talk in Hindi or Hinglish with people from across India, with no signup and nothing to install. Tap the button below and you are in the room with a random username in a few seconds.

Who the room is for

Hindi is the language a lot of India falls back on when two people from different states meet, so the room is not only for people from the Hindi belt. You will find students from Delhi and Lucknow next to someone in Pune who grew up on Doordarshan, and someone in Bengaluru who simply finds it easier to joke in Hindi than in English. If you can follow a Hindi film without subtitles, you belong here.

What people talk about is mostly everyday life:

  • Films and web series. Bollywood releases, old songs from the 90s, the series everyone is watching this month and whether the book was better.
  • Cricket. India matches, the IPL season, and the argument about who should open the batting that never ends.
  • Music. Filmi songs, Punjabi tracks, ghazals, indie artists, and requests for something new to listen to.
  • Festivals and food. Diwali plans, Holi stories, Chhath and Navratri, and which city makes the best chaat.
  • Exams, jobs and hostel life. Board results, coaching in Kota, placements, and late-night timepass after studying.

Hindi, Hinglish or Devanagari: all fine

Most people in the room type Hinglish, Hindi written in Roman letters, like "kya chal raha hai". That is completely normal and nobody will correct you. If you prefer Devanagari, switch your phone keyboard: Gboard and SwiftKey both have a Hindi layout, and Gboard can also turn Roman typing into Devanagari as you go (type "namaste" and pick नमस्ते). On a laptop, Google Input Tools or the Windows Hindi keyboard does the same.

Mixing is the house style. A message that starts in English and ends in Hindi is how most of India texts, and it reads fine here.

A few easy openers

HindiHinglishMeaning
नमस्ते, सब कैसे हैं?Namaste, sab kaise hain?Hello, how is everyone?
आप कहाँ से हो?Aap kahan se ho?Where are you from?
आजकल क्या देख रहे हो?Aajkal kya dekh rahe ho?What are you watching these days?
चाय या कॉफ़ी?Chai ya coffee?Tea or coffee?

A question about a film or a match gets more replies than "hi, anyone here?" A room is a group conversation, so reply to what is already on screen before starting your own thread.

How to join

  1. Tap "Join the Hindi room". FlashChat opens in your browser on Android, iPhone or a computer. No app, no email, no phone number.
  2. Get a username. On your first visit FlashChat gives you a random name. You can change it later in your profile, or keep it.
  3. Confirm you are 18 or older and the Hindi room opens. Type, reply, react, or send a photo or GIF.
  4. Come back easily. Add FlashChat to your home screen from the browser menu and it opens like an app next time.

Rules and safety

The room is public, so a few rules run automatically. Disallowed words are starred out instead of sent as typed, people who send messages too fast are slowed down, and links outside an allow-list are removed. Illegal content is refused. Every photo is checked on the server, including a check against known child-abuse images, and again in the receiving browser.

You can report or block anyone from the chat. Unlike one-to-one stranger chats, which are not written to disk unless reported, room messages are kept as the room's history, so do not post your phone number, address, college or anything you would not put on a notice board.

Quiet hours

A room depends on who is online. Afternoons on weekdays can be slow; evenings IST are usually the best time to find people talking.

FAQ

Is the Hindi chat room free?

Yes. There is no fee, no subscription and no signup. You open the link and you are in.

Can I type in Hinglish instead of Hindi script?

Yes. Most messages in the room are Hinglish. Devanagari is equally welcome; Gboard can convert Roman typing to Devanagari.

Do I need to download an app?

No. FlashChat runs in the browser on Android, iPhone and desktop. You can add it to your home screen if you want an icon.

Are Hindi room messages saved?

Yes. Room messages are kept as the room’s history so people who join later can read back. One-to-one stranger chats are not written to disk unless reported.

Who can join?

Adults only. You confirm you are 18 or older when you join; there is no ID check, so the rules and reporting tools matter.

How do I report someone?

Use report or block on the person in the chat. Formal complaints can go to the grievance officer, and content removal requests to the takedown page.

Start in Hindi

Open the room, say namaste, and ask about whatever you watched last night. If the room is quiet, the one-to-one chat pairs you with a single stranger instead.
