Telugu Chat Room: Chat in Telugu, Free and Anonymous

The FlashChat Telugu room is a free public chat room for Telugu speakers, open in your browser with no signup. Tap below and you are chatting in Telugu, in script or in English letters, within seconds.

Made for Telugu speakers, hosted in Hyderabad

FlashChat's servers are in Hyderabad, so the room is close to home for people across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Members also include Telugu people in Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune and further away, plus anyone who learned Telugu from friends and wants practice. The description of the room says it plainly: everyone is welcome.

Topics that keep it going

Tollywood is the obvious one. A big release weekend means reviews, songs, dialogues quoted back and forth, and debates about which hero's fans are loudest. Telugu film music gets its own conversations, as does the background score.

Cricket comes next, India matches and the IPL, with Sunrisers Hyderabad talk during the season. Then the rest of life: food (Hyderabadi biryani, Guntur chilli, pesarattu, pickles your family makes every summer), festivals like Sankranti, Ugadi, Bathukamma and Dasara, and the steady stream of jobs and studies talk, from engineering exams to IT offices in HITEC City.

How to type Telugu

You have two easy options:

  • English letters. Type "ela unnaru?" and everyone understands. This is how most people chat.
  • Telugu script. In Gboard, add the Telugu keyboard and choose the transliteration layout. Type namaskaram and it suggests నమస్కారం. There is a full Telugu letter layout too, if you prefer it.

On a laptop, Chrome's Google Input Tools or the operating system's Telugu keyboard does the same job. Mixing Telugu with English words is completely normal in the room.

Safety in a public room

Some things happen automatically: disallowed words are starred out, very fast senders are slowed down, and links that are not on an allow-list are taken out. Illegal content is refused. Photos are checked twice, first on the server, which also compares them with known child-abuse images, and then in the receiving browser.

Anyone can be reported or blocked from the chat. Remember that the room keeps its messages as history, unlike one-to-one stranger chats, which are never written to disk unless reported. Do not share a phone number, home address or workplace in the room.

Timing

The room is only as lively as the people in it. If it is quiet in the afternoon, look in again in the evening IST.
