Azar is a phone app. Its Google Play listing says it gives you a variety of features for free but that choosing who you meet by gender and region is part of a subscription, which renews automatically unless you turn it off in the Play Store. On the Indian App Store it lists gem packages from ₹69 to ₹2,149, a ₹69 starter package and an "Azar Gem Plus Lite" item at ₹89. Both listings say the app contains ads. Azar's website did not load for our check, so we have not listed subscription prices.
FlashChat has nothing to pay for with money and shows no ads in chat; optional extras use FlashCoins, which you earn free and cannot buy. It opens in any modern browser on Android, iPhone or a computer, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. There is no Play Store or App Store listing, which some people will see as a drawback.
Who you meet
Azar has the bigger audience by a wide margin: 10 crore+ downloads on Google Play alone, and Match Group called it the highest-grossing one-to-one live video and audio chat app in the world when it bought Hyperconnect in 2021. It also lets you browse profiles in a Lounge, follow people, discover others by shared interests, and read live subtitles that translate what the other person says.
FlashChat is far smaller and India-heavy. It matches a FlashBuddy who invited you first, then someone who shares an interest tag, then anyone. You start in text, and a voice or video call happens only when both people agree. Because fewer people are online, you may wait. If nobody is free within the wait window, you may be connected with an AI chat companion. FlashBot is labelled; not every AI companion is. Messages between two people are never sent to any AI service.
