Download FlashChat

FlashChat runs in any browser with nothing to install. If you'd rather have it as an app on your phone, there are two ways — an Android app you download straight from this page, and an install-to-home-screen option on iPhone. Both are the same FlashChat: same anonymous chat, same account, no sign-up either way.

Android

Download the app file and open it. Android will ask for permission the first time — that's expected for any app installed from outside the Play Store.

Download for Android

Checking for the latest build…

Step 1

Tap download

Your browser saves a .apk file. Chrome may ask you to confirm the download — that's the file itself, not the install.

Step 2

Open the file

Tap the finished download, or find it in Files → Downloads.

Step 3

Allow this one install

Android asks whether to let your browser install apps. Turn it on for the browser you downloaded with — the switch applies to that app only, and you can turn it back off afterwards.

Step 4

Install

Tap Install, then Open. That's it — no account, no login.

Play Protect may show a warning. Google checks apps that come from outside the Play Store and shows a caution screen for anything it hasn't seen many times before. Choose More details → Install anyway if you're happy to continue. If you'd rather not install anything, the website has every feature the app does.

Verify the download if you want to: the SHA-256 above is the checksum of the exact file this page links to. It's published so you can confirm nothing changed in transit.

Updating later

Because the app doesn't come from the Play Store, it won't update itself. When a new version is out, the app tells you and links back here — installing over the top keeps your chats, buddies and profile.

iPhone & iPad

There's no App Store listing yet, and iPhones don't allow apps to be installed from a website the way Android does. What works today is adding FlashChat to your home screen — it gets its own icon, opens full-screen without browser bars, and behaves like an app.

Step 1

Open in Safari

Go to flashchat.fun in Safari. This doesn't work from Chrome on iPhone.

Step 2

Tap Share

The square-with-an-arrow icon at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3

Add to Home Screen

Scroll the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.

An App Store version is in progress. This page will link to it when it's live.

On a computer

FlashChat works fully in your browser — there's nothing to install and no desktop app. To put it on your phone, open flashchat.fun/download.html there.

You can also install it as a desktop app from the address bar in Chrome or Edge: look for the install icon on the right-hand side.

Common questions

Is the app different from the website?

No. It's the same FlashChat with the same features and the same anonymous identity. The app just gives you an icon and a full-screen window.

Do I need an account?

No. FlashChat has never required sign-up. Your identity is generated on your device.

Why isn't it on the Play Store?

A Play Store listing is being worked on. Until then, downloading from here is the way to get the Android app.

Is it safe to install?

The file is served over HTTPS from flashchat.fun and its SHA-256 checksum is published above so you can verify it. That said — you should be careful about installing apps from any website, and if you're unsure, just use the site in your browser. It does everything the app does.
