Talk to someone new.

What is FlashChat?

FlashChat is a free anonymous chat site for India. Tap Start Chatting and you are matched with a random person for a text chat; either of you can turn it into a video call. There is no sign-up, no email and no phone number, and nothing to install: it runs in the browser on Android, iPhone and desktop.

About FlashChat

What you can do

• Random text and video chat with strangers, and skip at any time
• Photos that disappear after 3 to 10 seconds, and voice notes that play once
• Chat rooms, public or private, with group video calls for up to 15 people in private rooms
• Flash Cards: anonymous public posts with hearts and comments
• FlashBuddies: keep in touch with someone you met, in an end-to-end encrypted Saved Chat
• Arcade: Ludo, Chess, Snakes & Ladders and more, including online games with friends

Built for India

The servers are in Hyderabad, and video calls fall back to a relay server when a mobile network blocks a direct connection, which is common on Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL. FlashChat follows India's IT Rules 2021, with a grievance officer, a monthly compliance report and a takedown policy.

What is stored

Messages in one-to-one chats with strangers are not saved: they pass through server memory and are dropped when the chat ends. Room messages, Flash Cards and profiles are stored so they can be shown again, and Saved Chat is stored only as encrypted text the server cannot read. The Privacy Policy has the details, and the FAQ answers the common questions.

Common questions

Is FlashChat free?

Yes. Chat, rooms, cards and games are free, with no subscription and nothing to pay for with money. Optional FlashCoins, free to earn with a verified email, buy extras such as gifts, profile looks and a match pass with filters.

Can I talk to strangers without signing up?

Yes. Tap Start Chatting and you get a random name and a stranger to chat with. No email, phone number or account is needed; an email and password are optional, only to keep your FlashBuddies across phones. More in talk to strangers.

Is there an Indian Omegle?

Omegle shut down worldwide in November 2023 and never had an Indian server. FlashChat is built for India instead, with servers in Hyderabad so chats and calls stay fast on Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL. See Omegle alternative in India.

Can I chat without video?

Yes. Every chat starts as text. Either of you can ask for a voice-only or video call, and it starts only when the other person accepts. See random text chat and voice chat.

Are there Hindi and Tamil chat rooms?

Yes. FlashChat has official Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Marathi chat rooms that anyone can join, and you can create your own public or private room.

Do I need to download an app?

No. FlashChat runs in the browser on Android, iPhone and computers. You can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app.

Is FlashChat safe?

Every photo is checked on your phone and again on our servers, including against known child-abuse images, illegal content is refused, and you can report or block anyone in one tap. FlashChat is for adults 18 and over. Never share your name, address or school with a stranger. See the safety page.

Are all matches real people?

Not always. When nobody is free within the wait, you may be connected with an AI chat companion. FlashBot is labelled; not every AI companion is. Messages between two people are never sent to any AI service.
